I'm at home today...

...because my chest infection has resurfaced and it's not even winter yet!
Been off work since yesterday! Was even too mashed up to write part of my novel! THIS IS PRIME NOVEL WRITING TIME! I will try and do some writing today, right after I call up my collection of neice and nephews and tell them I won't be picking them up later to gorge some calorie busting, but rather tasty Krispy Creme dohnuts, as promised. Something I had been promising them for ages. It's not as if I WANT to teach the kids possible obesity inducing eating habits, but it is my duty as a 'cool (ish)' aunt to introduce their (and my) tastebuds to pleasure. Perhaps next week.

Flattery, elasticated slacks and raves.

28/08/2006
Thank you Gina. I loved your comments and had to fight rushes of flattery at the news that I am on your 'refferalls list' and you looked at my archives. Nice one!

Well in England, it's a Bank Holiday and I'm not writing today. I am still recovering from my poetry/Dj's /live music extravaganza, last night. During which my neice called and I had to text back amongst the thros of all the loud music and politely explain I was at a 'rave' and I'd have to call her back. Her amusing textual reply got me thinking; Her Aunty is out 'raving' whilst SHE is at home looking after a child. Isn't it supposed to be the other way round??
Talking of which, I woke up feeling dreadfull (even though I hadn't gotten drunk) its just my ageing body PLEADING; HELP ME, HELP ME. To my defence, I fitted in a short run this afternoon, have cooked a curry AND have just updated me Blog!

Have a great day!

I've written 18,000 words

Hey I'm back. Summer seems to be over but I've written 18,000 words of my new novel.

At this stage, I wont say much, only that the main character is called Lois and she's sweet (ish) and it's comedy(ish). My sense of humour.

It's EXACTLY what I want to write. I love it so far. Doing loads of research because even though it's set in the recent past (last fifteen years) I could still get things wrong. So I'm on a small high as i try and fit in 101 dates in the meantime.

I

A scary day today.
Another plot foiled.
Some people seemed determined to cause death and injury. These are really sad times.

It's a BOY!

Well i'm a proud Great Aunt this afternoon as my niece has just produced an offspring. I feel old. But happy!

I HAVE AN IDEA.............

Something stuck in my mind whilst I regressed into insolent child mode (as my agent reeled off her list of demands the other day i.e; blah, blah, blah!)
"Is this the novel you've ALWAYS wanted to write?"
Well no.

And a few days later I was sitting down in front of the telly and then...
AN IDEA CAME TO ME.
I've got it.

So I screamed my happiness, gave thanks to God, thought the temptation to call the 'ex 'im indoors' (In the old days he would be the first person i'd call when a new idea hit me) and sat down and wrote. And wrote. And wrote.
It's now 5000 words later...

I Spoke to my Agent on Tuesday.....

... And she basically seems to hate the first 50 pages my new effort/re-write.
No plot.
Too domestic
Story not going anywhere.
You've lost your 'voice'
Need I go on?
I dont think I'll show her the rest then....

Celebritys and Novels

Jordan's just published her first fiction novel . Apparently, her publishers asked her to try non - fiction. Wow - if only ai? Being asked... But I'm not bitter. And at least I can honestly say i havent used a ghost writer yet.
What do others think abut this issue?

Sun, sun, and more sun!!! Yessss!

Is it really July already?
I'm enjoying the sun. Trained a bit for my charity run next week and I'm contemplayting the cleaning of at least half my flat. No writing today as the first half of my new novel is with my agent.........

Thursday, June 22

Great to be back.....

... I suppose.
I've done a bit of writing today (I know, I can't believe it myself).
Just watching The Ghana Vs USA match. What a relief. In Georgia, actually America, it seemed no one gave a damn about footie! I'm not exactly a hard core fan, but I (whilst olgling the Brazilian, Italian, Spanish and Netherland team thighs) actually enjoy the world cup. It would be very humbling (or anger inducing) for a hardened british footie fan (flags on car etc) to see this; SOME PEOPLE JUST DONT CARE ABOUT FOOTBALL. One well known talk show host in America even made a joke about the game saying; "And they wonder why no one here takes it seriously". Well at least its one sport Britain have a shot at... pardon the pun...
This morning, I woke up very cold and had the heating on for around 3 hours as I sat in my fluffy nghtshirt and wrote (it was almost an alleged 20 degrees outside). I just feel so inspired to write write now and although I only wrote a bit - it was probaby some of the best stuff (I feel) I've written in a long time. Elle's back!
For now anyway.

Go Ghana!
